Instantly Stop Snoring

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is snoring caused and where can I find an impartial description of the benefits of a Mandibular Advancement Device?

Wikipedia provides a good definition of snoring, along with an impartial explanation of the MAD as well as other forms of treatment.

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry (U.S.), now in its 57th year, is a highly respected and trusted resource. The Journal is the official publication for 25 leading U.S. international prosthodontic organizations and is the leading professional journal devoted exclusively to prosthetic and restorative dentistry In 2008 they completed a 10 year study on compliance and effectiveness of the MAD for snoring.  You'll find the results at this link.

  • Can I use this device to treat serious sleep conditions?

If you suspect you may have a more serious sleep condition please do not rely on self treatment.  It is important that you contact your GP for assessment by a sleep clinic.

  •  What does the guarantee cover?

In short - we want this product to work for you but we also value our reputation!  If at first the device does not reduce your snoring significantly, or at all, please contact us as generally some slight personalised modifications will get you up and running.  If we find we cannot help you, which is rare, you are entitled to a full refund.  Most people are very honorable and loyal once they realise how the device can help them.  Naturally we are also running a business, so if you have any major concerns about whether the device will work for you I do encourage you to contact us prior to purchasing the device.  This will save time, money and some wastage of our planet's resources!

  • Can I use with dentures?

Yes in most cases it is fine, however since there are many variables in this situation please contact us to discuss your specific situation. You do need to be able to wear dentures to sleep and they do need to be snug.  If you can eat something quite firm without them shifting you should be just fine.  Also, if your gums become irritated with the dentures in, they may well become more irritated once the pressure of a mouthpiece is introduced.  But overall, most people cope well.

  • I have an abnormally large/small mouth?

That’s fine – the mouthpiece molds to the size/shape of just about every mouth.

  • How often do I mould it?

Generally just the once before you use it the first time.  Just ensure you read the instructions very carefully before you commence. It is possible to remould each device up to around 3 times each for adjustments if you are careful.

  • How quickly does it stop snoring?

It should stop INSTANTLY when you insert it.  You should either have total or very greatly reduced snoring.

  • Does it hurt?

Some people experience mild jaw discomfort for a couple of nights until they are used to it.  Generally the level of discomfort does not prevent or deter the user once they experience the snoring relief it provides.  If you are suffering great discomfort when you're using it, please stop and call me as that would indicate it has not been moulded quite correctly.

  • Can I choke or will it fall out?

Generally speaking the device should not fall out.  If it does, it generally means you are either a very wide open mouth breather or more commonly, you are simply taking it out while you sleep during the initial few days of getting used to the device.  Occasionally some customers do need to also use a chin strap if they sleep with their mouth wide open to ensure the device does not fall out.  This would happen even with the expensive dental variety.  Can you choke?  No - unless you are using a very very old device and you happen to grind your teeth very hard every night and manage to chew through the material.  Rest assured we would not be selling them if we thought this would happen!

  • Will it feel strange in my mouth?

Naturally you will need to get used to the sensation of having something in your mouth while you are sleeping – most people find they are comfortable with it within a few nights.

  • How do I breathe through my mouth?

The device has a breathing hole at the front for this.  The only time this may not be sufficient is if you are extremely congested with a cold.  It is possible to enlarge the breathing hole if you feel it is not sufficient for your needs though most people are quite comfortable with it.

  • How do I care for it?

Rinse it daily and clean in cold water with some non abrasive toothpaste fairly regularly.

  • How long will it last?

It depends if you grind your teeth, but generally between 1 and 2 years.  Hard core teeth grinders may need to replace more often.

  • What if it doesn't stop the snoring immediately?

During the moulding process the device will 'give' a little.  It is important to really ensure a good tight fit with this in mind.  If you find it does not immediately stop the snoring, or works somewhat but not completely, try remoulding each mouthpiece up to 3 times.  Each time move your lower jaw forward by an increment of around 2mm - it is common that people do not have their lower jaw sufficiently forward for the airways to be opened satisfactorily.

  • How quickly will it be delivered?

We use Australia Post overnight satchels within Australia so generally your delivery will be overnight or a maximum of 2 nights away if you are located in a remote area.  For overseas delivery delivery is normally complete between 5 and 10 days.

When awake, muscles and posture hold the airway open.  There is no obstruction, breathing is unrestricted and quiet.

When sleeping, muscles relax and the airway becomes obstructed.  Breathing is laboured and noisy.

The mouthpiece is worn in the mouth while sleeping, and holds the snorer’s lower jaw in a forward extended position.  This moves the base of the tongue away from the back of the airway and the soft palate, removing the obstruction and restoring quiet breathing.

"Your parcel arrived yesterday as advised. I read the instructions & molded the 1st. MAD perfectly. ....Only one night with the device, but absolutely no irritation to mouth / gums & is certainly effective. I am sure I will have %100 compliance in using it every night & wish to thank you for your prompt reply to my placed order.

To answer your one query, I found your website while researching "boil & bite" devices on the GOOGLE search engine. Your very comprehensive website contained all info that any potential customer could ask for & your personal offers of after sales support & help makes your product advertising stand out from the crowd. Your 60 day guarantee plus replacement offer for "loss down the garbage disposal" was the 'clincher'.

.........after only the one night of use, I am sure I will wear the MAD faithfully. I will not hesitate to recommend your product &
website to all my friends & associates.

Best wishes & continued success in your business."

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the Snorer's Friend mouth piece that I received yesterday.  Firstly I am grateful for the quick turnaround in getting the product to me, but most of all I would just like to thank you for the best night's sleep that my husband and I have had for a long time.  I can finally get over the guilt of keeping him awake and the agony of having to play musical beds and couch in order to get a couple of short hours' sleep in.  I will be recommending your product to anyone who will listen and I hope that your business develops and grows because you are providing an amazing and affordable community service. Well done!

"Hi Elizabeth,  I have to let you know, that I think your product is simply marvellous ... AS soon as my partner put the mouth guard on, (after following the instructions) and hit the pillow, - IT was the quietest moments, Ive ever experienced by his side... such a blessing... He cant beleive how much better he feels everyday too, his breathing stopped being erratic, and the snoring stopped!!!  my god, it was sooo loud, and sounded painful, for him with all this gasping.., let alone me witnessing such a distressing sleep... but now sleeping so well - cant beleive such an instant difference ..    I can finally sleep.. and he knows the benefits he feels, with getting more oxygen, so he has put the mouthguard on himself everynight since it first arrived, ... its great.   THANK YOU sincerely..

"....I just wanted to say thank you for the easy transaction and prompt delivery of my anti snoring device.
I have to be honest and admit I was a little sceptical about the device but I'm 24 weeks pregnant and driving my husband mad with my baby induced snoring. I recieved the device yesterday, moulded and used it last night and my husband had the best nights sleep he's had in months.
We are both very grateful to you!!
Thanks again.."
